Chris O’Leary
Chris O'Leary, born in Schenectady, New York, was immersed in music from a young age, thanks to his father's diverse taste. Inspired by The Band and Muddy Waters, O'Leary developed a deep passion for blues music, particularly the harmonica. After serving in the Marines, he pursued his musical aspirations, joining local bands and eventually forming his own.
O'Leary's career took a significant turn when he met Levon Helm, a legendary drummer and musician. Helm recognized O'Leary's talent and invited him to join his house band at Levon Helm's Classic American Café in New Orleans. Af This experience exposed O'Leary to a wider range of musical styles and helped him develop his own artistic voice. When Helm’s club closed, Levon took the house band—The Barn Burners—on the road. For the next six years, they barnstormed across the U.S. and Canada.
He has since released several solo albums, toured extensively, and collaborated with renowned blues musicians like Hubert Sumlin and Bob Margolin. O'Leary's dedication and talent have earned him recognition in the blues world, and his passionate performances continue to captivate audiences around the globe.
