Stephen Hull is part of a new generation carrying the blues forward without losing sight of where it came from.

Born in 1999 and raised in Racine, Wisconsin, Hull picked up the guitar at 14 and quickly found his way to the blues. Drawing early inspiration from giants like Albert King and B.B. King, he developed a guitar style rooted in feel, phrasing and soul rather than flash for flash’s sake. But guitar is only half the story. Hull is also a commanding vocalist and natural frontman whose warmth, energy and personality have become signatures of the Stephen Hull Experience.

That combination has helped turn Hull from a young Wisconsin talent into one of the blues scene’s most compelling emerging artists. The Stephen Hull Experience has built its reputation the old-fashioned way: onstage, night after night, winning over audiences in clubs, theaters and festivals throughout the Midwest and beyond.

In 2024, Hull made a major statement at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, taking 2nd Place while earning the competition’s Best Guitarist honor. That same year, he was named the Just Blues Awards’ “King of the Blues,” adding to a growing list of accolades surrounding his rise.

His performances have taken him from the Chicago Blues Festival to the Mississippi Valley Blues Festival, while his music and story have attracted attention from blues media on both sides of the Atlantic. Hull has been featured in Living Blues and the UK’s Blues & Rhythm: The Gospel Truth, and interviewed by outlets including Milwaukee’s NPR programming.

Still, the real introduction to Stephen Hull happens when he steps onstage.
