Like fine, brilliant, unknown bourbon that has just been discovered, Mingo Fishtrap has an old school familiar sound that is an assertive innovation. This Blues outfit is fronted by the talented Roger Blevins, Jr. whose vocals are crowd-pleasingly magnetic, full of sexy swagger and moxie. They have a bold back beat, thumping bottom end and smooth yet stinging guitar but what sets them apart is a fat, full rounded sound that is laid down by an astounding horn section. They serve up sultry Southern Blues, blistering Soul, and solid Funk twisted up tight with a long, easy burning finish. Mingo Fishtrap totes a timeless retro groove that is cutting a crisp, fresh path in an ever changing Blues World. Shaded with influences of Memphis & Motown, this outfit has soaked up the musical ingredients of days long gone and has given it all the spice of today.
